SNAP costs me -$466 to close out the quarter
Worst session of the quarter and a fitting way to end it: -$466, all of it Snap.
SNAP, thirteen days and out
I'd bought 1,000 shares of SNAP at $4.87 on June 17. On the 30th I sold the lot at $4.40, a loss of -$466, or roughly 10%. It's the largest single-trade loss I'd taken to that point, and it came from the largest position I'd taken in a non-micro-cap name.
Setting up for July
The same day I bought 1,000 shares of SPCE at $2.84 and 1,000 shares of TLRY at $4.47 — both of which I'd carry into the next quarter and sell in the first days of July. If you've read the July entries, those are the positions behind that +$411 opening day.
Closing the quarter
Final realized P&L for April through June: +$4,323. A genuinely good first quarter of trading — and one where the shape of the results is impossible to miss. I peaked at +$5,635 on June 11 and spent the next three weeks losing money on nearly every session. I've broken the whole quarter down in the full Q2 recap.
Two positions I barely touched made about $5,400. Everything I actively traded after that, in aggregate, gave back about $1,100. The quarter was profitable despite my day trading, not because of it.
